What drives us to reach for art instinctively? Are we, as humans, wired for creative exploration?
The Black Bored Films explores cinematic expression, performance arts and writing. It focuses on independent cinema that is adaptable in terms of technique, creativity, and narrative structure, blending both fiction and non-fiction elements. Films by the Black Bored are characterized by their intimacy, often involving just 1-3 individuals in the production process.
The stories are inspired by everyday life and are rooted in every day/day to day settings, yet striving to explore topical themes that pertain to larger society and our world, such as women’s safety, urbanism, solitude , environment etc .
The idea came from wanting a space that would stand for a celebration of the arts in all its forms, showcasing the stories and expressions of everyday people—those who are not ‘professional artists’ and who may not have attended art school, yet have found ways to keep the artist within them alive, often without even realizing it.
At its core also lies a deep fascination with how throughout history humans have invented newer forms of mediums to express themselves, create art. And it continues to this day!
